James T. Hittinger
James T. Hittinger (Thad) is an experienced trial and appellate attorney specializing in all aspects of civil litigation. He has tried numerous cases to a verdict in all local jurisdictions and has spent over a decade helping his clients navigate the complexities of litigation to obtain favorable outcomes. A zealous advocate, Mr. Hittinger approaches each case as an opportunity to uphold his clients’ rights, whether at trial, on appeal, or through mediation and arbitration. His practice style is client-centric, favoring objectivity with the goal of achieving successful outcomes.
Mr. Hittinger was previously a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of a large national defense firm. This experience enables him to practice in a wide variety of civil claims, including medical malpractice, professional licensing, construction defect, commercial litigation among business owners and contractors, defamation, and general liability claims. Since 2018 he has been named annually to Washington, D.C.’s Super Lawyers guide.
He has extensive first chair trial experience in both jury and non-jury matters throughout the Washington, D.C. area, is licensed in all three jurisdictions, and is privileged to practice in all local federal trial courts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Mr. Hittinger resides in Maryland with his wife and sons. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Franklin & Marshall College and his juris doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law. While in law school, he was a two-time member of the National Appellate Advocacy Competition Moot Court team. He is an avid Washington Capitals fan and enjoys playing sports, the outdoors, reading, cooking, and spending time with his family.
